Chairperson
BIO
Hello! My name is Viwe, and feel very honoured to serve as the Adventist Athletics Club (AAC) chairperson in 2023.
It was in 2002 that I participated in my very first organised race. Since then, I have run in numerous road-running events, including marathons and ultra marathons in four continents across the world. I love the discipline and commitment that comes with training for a road race. Over the two decades of being a runner, I found it to be one of the easiest ways to stay fit and does not really need a team. Yes, company is great but when there is none, I still go on solitary runs. In addition to being a great way to stay in shape, it boosts mental and spiritual health. I have met many amazing people through running.
As chairperson, I hope to create a supportive and welcoming community that will encourage people to stay fit for life! I believe that everyone can benefit from having a supportive network of fellow runners to motivate and encourage them. To achieve this goal, I work closely with a team of leaders and volunteers across southern Africa. We promote physical activity as part of a health and wellness package; organize regular group runs, share training programs, and participate in social events. I also strive to make our club as inclusive as possible, with runners of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.
As a leader, I am dedicated to promoting a culture of safety and respect within our club. I believe that every member deserves to feel valued and heard, and I am always available to listen to feedback and suggestions.
Overall, I am thrilled to be serving as the chairperson of our running club, and I am excited to continue working with our members to promote health, fitness, and community spirit through running
